Coming Soon: Groombar Grant Park — Get Your Puppy Groom-Ready!

We're thrilled to announce that Groombar Grant Park is coming soon to the Grant Park, Kankakee, Manteno, Peotone, and Beecher communities! As part of the trusted EarthWise Pet family, we'll be bringing professional mobile grooming right to your driveway — and we can't wait to meet your furry family members.

While we put the finishing touches on our launch, here are some tips to get your puppy ready for their very first professional groom.

    Preparing Your Puppy at Home

A puppy's first grooming experience sets the stage for the rest of their life. You can do plenty of "homework" now to help your pup feel confident when the big day arrives.

Start by touching your puppy's paws, ears, and tail frequently during cuddle time. Gently massage their paw pads and separate their toes — this desensitizes them for future nail trims. You can also introduce the "noise" of grooming by running an electric toothbrush near them to mimic the sound of clippers, or blowing a hairdryer on a low, cool setting from a distance.

Spend time brushing your puppy daily with a soft brush. Even if they don't have much fur yet, the routine helps them understand that being brushed is a calm, rewarding experience. Always follow these "mini-grooming" sessions with a high-value treat!

What to Expect from Groombar Mobile Grooming

When we launch, our state-of-the-art mobile grooming van will provide a one-on-one, cage-free environment right outside your front door. Your puppy will be the only "client" in the van, which means undivided attention from our professional groomers who can move at your puppy's pace, offering breaks and extra snuggles when needed.

No stressful car ride, no hours in a noisy shop. For a puppy, staying in their familiar neighborhood while receiving a spa treatment makes the entire process feel like a natural extension of their day.

What Happens During the First Appointment?

We recommend a "Puppy Introduction" or "Puppy's First Spa Day" for dogs under six months old. The goal of the first visit isn't always a full breed-standard haircut — it's about positive reinforcement and gradual exposure.

Here is what a typical first visit will look like:

    • A Gentle Bath: We use high-quality, natural shampoos from the EarthWise Pet line that are gentle on sensitive puppy skin.
    • Slow Drying: We introduce the blow dryer at a low speed to ensure the puppy isn't startled by the air pressure.
    • The "FTM" (Feet, Tail, and Muff): We focus on trimming the hair around the paw pads, the sanitary area, and the corners of the eyes.
    • Nail Trimming and Ear Cleaning: We gently clip or grind the nails and clean the ears to prevent infections.

By keeping the first appointment short and sweet, we ensure your puppy leaves with a wagging tail, ready for their next visit.

Get Ready — We're Almost There!

Consistency is key to a well-groomed pup. Once we're open, we recommend scheduling regular appointments every 4 to 6 weeks. Whether you're living in the heart of Grant Park or on the outskirts of Beecher, maintaining a schedule prevents painful matting and keeps your puppy's coat in peak condition through the changing Illinois seasons.

Stay tuned for our official launch date! Groombar Grant Park will soon be serving Grant Park, Kankakee, Manteno, Peotone, Beecher, and the surrounding areas. We're committed to providing exceptional, convenient care right at your doorstep. Keep an eye out for booking details — we can't wait to help your puppy grow into a grooming pro!
