Question 1

What's the total investment for a Groombar franchise?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the model. Mobile-only ranges from $78,300 to $245,450. Mobile plus an in-store grooming salon ranges from $299,000 to $754,250. Mobile plus salon plus a co-branded pet nutrition center ranges from $512,000 to $1,036,250. Adding a Groombar grooming department to an approved existing pet retail store ranges from $204,000 to $744,250. Full line-item costs are in Item 7 of the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD).

Question 2

What are the up-front and ongoing fees?

Accepted Answer

The initial franchise fee is $45,000, discounted 10% for veterans of the U.S. armed forces. On top of that there is a territory and service fee of $5,000 for mobile-only, $10,000 for mobile plus salon, and $15,000 for mobile plus salon plus a nutrition center. Ongoing, you pay a weekly royalty of 7% of gross revenue on mobile grooming and 5% on salon and retail, plus a 2% marketing contribution and grooming scheduling software at $140 per van and $205 per salon each month.

Question 3

Do I need prior grooming or pet industry experience?

Accepted Answer

No. Many successful franchisees come from completely different industries. What matters most: you genuinely love pets and Pet Parents, and you're willing to follow a proven system.

Question 4

Is financing available?

Accepted Answer

Groombar is a Franchise Registry member, which can simplify SBA-backed financing. We'll also help you assemble the documentation and intro you to preferred lenders. For a limited time, qualified Mobile candidates can finance 50% of the initial franchise fee.

Question 5

How much can I make as a franchisee?

Accepted Answer

No franchise system can guarantee earnings. We can promise full transparency — our top franchisees exceed seven figures. See Item 19 of the FDD for the complete picture.

Question 6

How long does the discovery process take?

Accepted Answer

Most candidates move from first information request to franchise award in 60 to 120 days, including FDD review, validation calls with existing franchisees, and an in-person Discovery Day.

Question 7

Where is training held?

Accepted Answer

Initial training is held in person at our corporate offices in Bellevue, WA, or at a designated training location when circumstances require it, with remote sessions available for some components depending on necessity. On-site support follows during your build-out and launch.

Question 8

Can I own both a Mobile and a Salon?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every salon model already includes a mobile van, and many franchisees start mobile-only and add a salon or a co-branded pet nutrition center later. We'll help you sequence growth based on your market and capital.

Question 9

What territories are available?

Accepted Answer

We're actively awarding territories across the United States. Reach out and we'll check availability and demographic fit for your target market.

Question 10

What support do I get after I open?

Accepted Answer

A dedicated business consultant, quarterly marketing calendars, a supplied website, ongoing nutrition and product education, and access to a 40+ person corporate support team — for the life of the franchise.

Question 11

Is Groombar one of the more affordable pet franchises to own?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Groombar Mobile model starts at $78,300 total investment — making it one of the more affordable, low-cost pet franchise opportunities on the market. It's home-based, van-based, and designed for owner-operators who want to enter the pet grooming industry without the overhead of brick-and-mortar.

Question 12

Is Groombar a home-based or van-based pet grooming business?

Accepted Answer

Both. The Groombar Mobile franchise is a fully home-based, van-based pet grooming business — your luxury grooming van is the salon. You operate from home, drive to pet parents in your protected territory, and avoid commercial lease costs entirely.

Question 13

Is the pet grooming industry recession resistant?

Accepted Answer

The US pet industry is widely considered recession-resistant — Americans spent $147B on their pets in 2023 (APPA), and grooming & boarding is projected to grow at a 7.54% CAGR through 2029. Pet parents continue to prioritize grooming through economic cycles because it's a health and hygiene service, not a discretionary purchase.

Question 14

What's the mobile dog grooming franchise cost with Groombar?

Accepted Answer

Total investment for a mobile-only Groombar franchise ranges from $78,300 to $245,450, depending on territory, vehicle financing, and working capital. That range includes the $45,000 initial franchise fee and a $5,000 territory and service fee. Veterans of the U.S. armed forces receive a 10% discount on the initial franchise fee.

Question 15

Why is Groombar a strong dog grooming franchise to buy?

Accepted Answer

Groombar is backed by 40+ years of pet industry expertise through the EarthWise Pet family, offers four proven models (mobile, mobile plus salon, mobile plus salon with a pet nutrition center, and grooming departments for approved existing pet retailers), provides full digital marketing setup for every franchisee, and includes in-person training plus ongoing field support.
